TO HELL & BACK 2019 by Jacques Marais

The Challenge

Here's what you need to do...

  1. REGISTER for the #THAB Challenge (https://mtbroutes.co.za/competitions/register)
  2. CONNECT your Strava Account (https://mtbroutes.co.za/strava-connect)
  3. CLIMB like a Bat out of Hell!
  4. Earn BONUS POINTS by submitting a TRAIL REVIEW or NEW TRAIL here: https://mtbroutes.co.za/submit-trail-review/ – (available from Monday 12 October 2020).
  5. Visit the leaderboard to track your position.

Over a three-week period (from 9 October 2020 – 31 October 2020), we’ll award points for every meter you climb. Your points will be added together for all cycling activities over this period to calculate a total tally to determine your number of entries for the Lucky Draw. In short, we’ll take your actual total ascent over every MTB activity and divide that by 100. The sum of these points will then determine your category of entry. Makes sense?

Plus, you can earn 25 BONUS POINTS for every approved TRAIL REVIEW or NEW TRAIL UPLOAD submitted to the #MTBR web site!

Simply complete the relevant TRAIL DETAILS form at this link; once we’ve verified that your submission is complete we’ll award your 25 points. If it is an EXISTING TRAIL, you can still correct the content, add additional descriptions and information – or even send us Maps, .GPX Files or Photos – to earn your BONUS 25 POINTS!

Good luck and get CRANKING!

Rules

  1. Only outdoor rides – No virtual rides!
  2. Challenge starts at 00:00 on 9 October 2020 and end at 23:59 on Sunday 1 November 2020.
  3. Climbing meters are rounded down.
  4. Trail Submissions may be either NEW TRAILS or extensive TRAIL REVIEWS of existing trails in need of updating.
  5. The decision of the Judging Panel is final.

Points System

Example Calculation:

Participant completes 7 800 meters in climbing over the three week period. Total climb / 100 = 78. Based on the table below, 78 points translates to 6 entries in the lucky draw.

NOTE: Maximum number of entries is 9, based on 12 100 meters of climbing (or more) over the three week period.
