Using the quiet dirt roads running parallel to the busy tar roads means that this route is nice and peaceful.  McGregor is the halfway point on this route and in summer a refreshing stop off for a swim in the dam is highly recommended.  There is some fun singletrack in the Kraanz next to McGregor as well as restaurants to get some chow before heading back.
