Moletadikgwa (pronounced Mo-let-a-deeg-wa), a 420ha wildlife sanctuary situated amidst woodland, savannah plains and rocky krantzes, nestles within the heart of the Waterberg at an altitude of 1400m. The rugged farm is perfect for mountain biking, with one formal route of about 10km laid out and marked on a map, but several other options along game tracks and gravel roads waiting to be explored.
On your bike
Numerous tracks offer alternating surfaces, from hard-pack and loose sand to rocky terrain, thus making for varied cranking. Tranquil surrounds make Moletadikgwa the perfect soul space ride, with ample birding and game-viewing opportunities from the bike. Follow your front wheel to find your own way or stick to the 10km trail tripping through the scenic, deciduous bush veldt typical of this part of the Waterberg. The well-known landmark Hanglip (30km to the east) is visible from the Zebra Trail, and, on a clear day, it is possible to get a good view of Aasvoëlkop (90km to the west) in Marakele National Park.
Off the bike
Well-marked walking trails will delight active guests who are also free to ramble anywhere in the veld. Horse-riding is available on a neighbouring game reserve. Mokabi Lodge is a beautiful option if you are looking for accommodation on the reserve.
PLEASE NOTE: Vaalwater is your last stop for fuel, fresh produce and ice.
