This route begins from Roma to Mohale Dam and is about 85 km. It is also the route for stage 4 of the Lesotho Sky stage race.
On your bike
Prepare for a long ride – starting off in Roma on scenic single track with sublime backcountry riding on the plateau around this university town. The track will lead you back onto a gravel road, eventually following the Makhaleng River all the way to Ha Sempe. Here, you will hit the main tarred road to the Highlands Water project and ride the rest of the stage on tar.
Note that the Blue Mountain Pass is the only UCI category 1 climb in Southern Africa. The highest point of the pass is at 2641m and both altitude and the scenery will take your breath away. You will see the Mohale Dam in the distance between the Maluti Montains.
