OVERVIEW
The cycling around here is demanding, since the only way out from Camp Shaka is up.
On your bike
For cycle tourists there is a scenic 35 km one-way cruise to Balito, initially downhill on beautifully cambered, well maintained dirt roads, followed by undulating, quiet, tarred roads all the way down to a dip in the sea. For the off-road rider there’s a 7 km jeep track down the valley, sandwiched between cane fields and gum plantation, which eventually joins up with the dirt road to Umhlali.
Off the bike
Swimming, rock-climbing. Team adventure weekends by arrangement.
