OVERVIEW
Nestled at the end of a 4km gravel road (should be surfaced later this year), the Giba Gorge Adventure Park invites adventurers to embark on a journey through its 300ha. Thrilling trails await amidst the stunning backdrop of the Umhlatuzana River and its spectacular waterfalls. With its indigenous flora & fauna, underlain with decomposed granite, Giba Gorge promises great riding in all weather conditions!
On Your Bike
Choose your adventure from any of the well-maintained trails. There’s approx. 45km of trails to choose from! There are also interleading trails which join all the trails should you want to change your mind or at least head back to the Trail Centre. All the trails are well marked on the app: https://m.trailblaze.co.za. This is interactive and shows where you are in the Giba valley
The Blue Route, spanning 15km, offers the most adventurous terrain, skirting the N3 freeway and weaving through a blue gum plantation. With smooth flowing lines, tight berms, and challenging features, it’s perfect for riders seeking an adrenaline rush. Immerse yourself in the Mainline’s flowing trails or master technical skills in the Free Ride section, where every twist and turn promises excitement. Rest assured, safety is paramount, with all obstacles clearly marked for your peace of mind.
Off the Bike
Giba Gorge Adventure Park isn’t just for cyclists. Nature enthusiasts can explore the park’s scenic beauty through hiking trails, while birders can spot diverse avian species amidst lush surroundings. For those seeking a relaxing getaway, we are close to awesome B&B’s in the upper Highway area. There are also some spectacular hiking trails to the “White Hut” above the new “Westown” development and to Macintosh falls, all offering breath-taking views of the gorge.
Facilities abound within the park, including a great outdoor coffee shop, conference centre, showers and an awesome small décor shop. So refuel with a coffee, browse the picnic sites or choose a great place on the lawn to relax after your ride. You can also visit the dedicated bike repair workshop to keep your gear in top condition. They also offer bike washes at reasonable prices. Don’t forget to check out the optional energy drinks at the Tuck shop —perfect for recharging after an exhilarating ride.
