OVERVIEW
Lake Pleasant Resort is a peaceful shady resort situated halfway between Wilderness and Knysna, on the shores of the Garden Route’s only freshwater-lake, Groenvlei. Groenvlei forms part of the Goukamma Nature Reserve and is also part of the Khysna and Wilderness National Lakes Area.
On your bike
This ride can be done from either side and includes brilliant dirt road for almost 3 km that meanders through indigenous trees and lots of Fynbos. Expect to climb lots if you are doing it from the Groenvlei side. There is also a briliant technical section at the end towards the beach. The beach ride can’t get any better. Solid packed sand with almost 50 metres wide beach to ride. There are lots of rocks to jump and dodge in certain sections
Off the bike
Hike the forest trails, bring your binoculars and go for trogons and touracos, or pack a picnic basket to enjoy in the deep-forest surround sound. The Rheenendal Ramble takes you to the artists and crafters in the area, while the coastal town of Knysna will entice you with a range of action and leisure activities. Restaurants, farm stalls, art galleries, craft outlets, delis and cafés range from the quirky and quaint to drop-dead elegant.
