OVERVIEW
Leeuwenboschfontein Guest Farm is an ideal getaway at any time of year, whether in the warmth of summer or the occasional snow of winter. The farm is set in a valley, against the backdrop of the beautiful Klein Karoo.
On your bike
Pedal from lodge onto 4×4 route, passing to right of small farm dam and climbing steeply along top of ridge. After 2.2 km you top out onto a small plateau; keep right and ascend along a near vertical (push or carry!) climb.
You reach the mountain hut 3.8 km later. Retrace your tracks for just under 1 km then turn right at the first intersection onto the Code 4 section of the 4×4 route. Some nice technical riding here, with steep exits and tight angles for 7 km as you loop anti-clockwise and back onto the original track.
You rejoin your ascent route about 4 km from the trailhead and can look forward to a very fast and rocky downride to the lodge. There is a lot of additional gravel riding in the area too, so saddle up and explore.
Off the bike
Drie Kuilen Private Nature Reserve is very close and the town of Montagu is less than an hour away. Climb, hike or bike the mountains, sip wine or relax at the warm baths.
