OVERVIEW
Mountain Sanctuary Park is a privately owned nature reserve, nestled in the Magaliesberg Mountains. These majestic peaks, which are more than two-billion years old, stand proud and untouched – enveloping magnificent crystal-clear mountain pools and extraordinary rock formations.
On your bike
The reserve has excellent access to some of the best trails crisscrossing these majestic ranges. If you’re an adventurous mountain biker, the 12km MTB trail on Mountain Sanctuary makes up part of the infamous Magalies Monster MTB race; so, get cranking past the pools and pebbles.
Outside the nature reserve, a wide range of gravel roads beckons. Opt for an easy pedal along the Barnardsvlei road or take on the physically demanding Breedt’s Neck Mountain Pass. This rugged dirt strip rises from an altitude of 1 360m to an imposing1 670m at the crest, before blasting all the way down to the R24.
Off the bike
Guests are welcome to bring a picnic or make use of the limited braai facility at the pool area. Hiking trails available – the maps for which can be found here.
