There isn’t a lot of flat riding in the Hazyview area, and you are bound to discover this right out of the blocks as you crank onto the top-notch trail networks here on the Panorama Route. A grand outdoor arena awaits along the verdant ridges of the Sabie Valley, blanketed in indigenous forests and extensive plantations. Induna Adventure’s spectacular purpose-built trails meander through both natural vegetation and working plantations, crossing both the Mac Mac and Sabie Rivers several times. Give it gas along speedy downhills, gruelling climbs and fast-flowing single-track, while a few technical sections and water crossings will keep you focused.
In total, more than 80km of well-groomed and scenic trails start right from the Induna Adventure Centre. The mountain biking routes is structured as various loops that can be linked to vary your distance accordingly. This way, you can plan to spend anything from two hours to the whole day in the saddle, depending on your level of fitness, of course. Everything goes, from calf-crunching climbs to mind-blowing waterfall stops, deep-forest gravel cruising and single-tracks created by the local hippos!
On your bike
Here are a few of our routes for all seasons (and riders)! The 10km Blue Route is a great beginners ride; start off with a short climb, then cruise the flats as you crank through eucalyptus plantations. The half-way mark comes packaged with a beautiful view of a breathtaking waterfall, and makes it a ride suited to the whole family. The tough 30km Yellow Route follows a an easier ride, albeit through rather slippery terrain with a few steep ascents until you reach the highest point along the trail at 1 400m ASL. This is a fairly committed ride, but with great scenery as well as waterfall views, and an awesome 9km downhill run into the finish. (This is also the Induna X-Fest MTB event course, so expect awesome forest tracks and lots of bridges).
Finally, for the Big Dogs keen to crank up the fear factor, there is the 11km Black Route or 8km Red Route. Both these routeswill challenge you with a mix of short, sharp climbs, rock shelves, rooty drops, bermed switchbacks and a few shallow water crossings. The Red Trail is a technical ride with lots of smooth challenging single-tracks and short steep climbs, while the Black Trail will throw down the MTB gauntlet along testing single-tracks following the Mac Mac River.
Guided rides (as well as bicycles) are available for hire. The above trails network is also the venue for the Big Induna MTB Classic and the Induna X-fest events.
