OVERVIEW
Take in one of Cape Town’s classic viewpoints…
On your bike
Blast off from the metal boom 500m before you reach the Signal Hill parking lot onto a seriously steep jeep track dipping towards the City Bowl. (Access is also possible from other points along the tarmac road.) Approximately 2km of gnarly downhill awaits, switchbacking along rock-shocked dirt tracks before banging onto the stairwells and alleyways of Bo-Kaap.
These treacherous gravel roads go ballistic during the annual Action Cycles Urban Assault race, when the DH crowds take on these death-wish slopes at warp speed. Sponsored by Red Bull, they bomb all the way from the summit into the historic Malay Quarter.
Off the bike
Hike up Platteklip Gorge to the top of Table Mountain and do a death-defying abseil with Abseil Africa; check out the pubs, clubs and restaurants in Long Street and Cape Town Waterfront.
