FURTHER INFORMATION

Stanford Lake Lodge, a leisurely 3hr drive from Pretoria, boasts fabulous mountain biking upon the shores of the tranquil, 17ha Stanford Lake. The waterfall from the lake feeds into the spectacular Ebenezer Dam. The 127ha area surrounding Stanford Lake boasts an extensive network of MTB trails, offering ample opportunity to explore this historic farm.

On your bike

The 10km Blue Route is suitable for families with young kids, as it follows the edge of Stanford Lake and Ebenezer Dam along well-used roads. The ride is fairly flat with only two uphill sections towards the end but could be extended by 3km along the ring road around the dam. The more substantial 25km Yellow Route follows the Blue Route before branching off along a gradual climb to cross the R71. It then follows the Broederstroom Road along an easy cruise towards Cheerio.

If you are a Stanford Lodge guest, you will not need a permit to ride the Blue Route! However, should you want to go further afield, you can purchase a permit online for the low, low price of R50. Same applies to day visitors.

Off the bike

Enjoy the hiking trails, birding, bass and trout fishing in the Ebenezer Dam and at Stanford Lake or relax while being treated to an Indian Head Massage.
